Europe a Strong Contender to US in terms of eCommerce

According to the last Forrester Readiness Index report about eCommerce, US surpasses the rest of the world in terms of eCommerce readiness but European Countries are becoming strong contenders. The top 10 countries in this report are:

  • U.S.
  • China
  • Japan
  • South Korea
  • UK
  • Germany
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Singapore
  • Sweden

In this study, Forrester analyzes the eCommerce growth opportunities for each country, according to a complex variety of factors signals, including population size, income per capita, number of debit/credit cards per capita, activity and intensity of the market, etc. U.S. outranks China by a large margin (US got a score of 73.4 vs China’s 51.1), but several European countries such as UK, Germany, Netherlands, Norway or Sweden, shows great opportunities for eCommerce growth.

The report also shows big eCommerce opportunities in South Korea, which ranks fourth on the list because they have the third highest number of debit/credit cards per capita, has a youth and tech aware population and have high activity and intensity in their market.
